Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” Vegas residency show keeps going strong in the “Modern Showrooms Las Vegas” at ALEXIS PARK HOTEL.
The legendary Neil Diamond is one of the most successful and beloved singer/songwriters in rock and pop music history.
More than just being one of the best-selling and record-breaking touring artists ever, he’s also written and recorded the soundtrack of our lives — including some of the most famous songs on the planet.
In the beginning of 2018, shortly before his 77th birthday, Neil Diamond announced his retirement from performing after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
However, Diamond’s on-stage legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences across the globe through tribute artist Rob Garrett, known as America’s premier Neil Diamond tribute performer.
Ask Google “who is America’s number one Neil Diamond tribute artist,” and you’ll always hear Rob Garrett.
Like his idol, Rob Garrett was born in Brooklyn, NY.
In May 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to Las Vegas, where, in 1976, he witnessed his first Neil Diamond concert when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.
Garrett went on to see him multiple times across the country—right up until Diamond’s final U.S. concert at the Los Angeles Forum on August 12, 2017.
In 1980, Garrett started his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and across the nation before making the move from lead singer of a cover band to a full-time tribute performer dedicated to one of his musical idols.
In 1995, Garrett was hand-picked by the legendary Paul Revere to portray Neil Diamond in the “Legends in Concert” show in Honolulu, Hawaii.
What was meant to be a short engagement turned into a long-term hit show.
By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another two years before deciding to go independent.
He began a busy tour circuit, building a strong worldwide fan community along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds.”
He continues to draw packed houses nationwide, often in venues reserved for national acts.
Garrett has also received multiple Neil Diamond tribute Las Vegas near Strip hotels accolades, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”
“Since Neil Diamond retired, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.
On May 19th officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating his 50 years living in Las Vegas and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.
Now in 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last three decades devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.
It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has played in more Vegas rooms than any peer.
Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the nation’s sole ongoing Neil Diamond tribute show.
